The Marion Riverwalk from Washington down even into the park is in great disrepair.
What once was one of Marion's strong points is now decaying into ruin. Under the Washington St. Bridge, weeds just about cover the pathway. Near the old Girl Scout
building there is a stairway totally closed due to decay and disrepair. Behind the apartments near the Medical Complex area, handrails have fallen off.
In the past weeds were never allowed to grow so close and thick near the walkway.
The walkway needs help. Maintenance of what we have is just as important as new projects. The last couple of years weed ordinance signs were abundant in residents yards. Have not seen many this year, and perhaps because the city no longer does its part in keeping weeds at bay.
Obviously, money has not been released for this. But we see abundant money spent elsewhere. We hope the city will hear, and if nothing else organize a community project to bring the walkway back to former standards.
Possible Solution: A Community Repair and grooming day for the Walkway.
