From the Seybold Chronicle:
"The local option income tax was denied Tuesday by the Marion City Council.
After two hours of debate and public input — and after a month’s worth of meetings throughout the rest of Grant County — the Marion City Council voted 5-3 against enacting the LOIT. Because the council‘s vote was the deciding factor, the proposed .40 percent LOIT will not go into effect for 2009."
Thank God!
They did vote it down! I'm sure this is just a delay and there will be those who will try to resurrect this hellish tax, but for now, chock up one for the citizen.
It is not often this local government does anything right, but this was a good thing! Blessings to all who voted against it!
